ISTANBUL - 27.07.2012 18:10
World famous Turkish jazz fusion musician Okay Temiz and internationally acclaimed saxophonist İlhan Erşahin will be performing for this year's Jazz in Ramadan concert series in İstanbul, the event's organizers said this week.
The 2012 edition of the open-air gigs, first introduced in 2010 by Hakan Erdoğan Productions, got under way on July 19 with a performance by the legendary American jazz pianist/composer Ahmad Jamal at Santralİstanbul. The 82-year-old Jamal is a staple of the series, being the only performer who has taken part in all three editions.
Announcing the rest of the lineup in a press release on Thursday, the İstanbul-based event management company said Temiz will be joined onstage by Aydın Esen, another jazz great from Turkey, in an appearance set for Aug. 6 at the terrace of the Sakıp Sabancı Museum in the Emirgan quarter. The pianist had presented a set titled “Aydın Esen Plays for Ramadan” in the series' 2010 edition.
